To believe Google, many people encounter a problem with Mail in Mac OS X: The application asks for more systematically password POP3 accounts at launch, even after you check the box to save the password. A look at Keychain Access in Utilities, however, shows that the passwords are stored.
The solutions offered here and there on the Internet (Apple has never fixed this problem that has lasted for years) will repair the Keychain (Keychain Access Menu> Keychain First Aid) the elimination of passwords and their re- .
All this did not work at home and in fact it seems that there is a problem of access control: double click on each POP account in the Keychain to access the Access Control tab, by default Mail application is allowed. An easy way to verify that this control does not work is to select the check box Require password keychain. Next launch Mail should request the password from Keychain before you can access the POP3 account ... but it does not!
To solve the problem with me, I finally select the Allow access to this element by all applications. Security level is medium, but at least it works ...
